Kundapur, Jul 19: A 15-year-old girl, studying in the tenth standard at Beary's High school in Kodi in the outskirts of the town, committed suicide by consuming poison, on Friday July 18.

It is gathered, that the student named Jyoti Mogaveera was suffering from depression and mental turmoil from a few days. She consumed poison on Thursday July 17. As soon as her father Shankar Mogaveera realized this, he shifted her to a private hospital in Koteshwar for treatment. As the doctors there expressed their helplessness to treat her because of her precarious condition, she was admitted into a private hospital in the town. Early morning on Saturday she breathed her last, without responding to medications administered for her revival.

The relatives of the girl who gathered at the hospital complained, that the doctors at the hospital had expressed the confidence of reviving her, even when at the time of admission there, they had expressed their readiness to shift her to other hospitals if the doctors had any doubts about the efficacy of their treatment.

The hospital sources however, countered this claim by saying that the duty doctor had clearly informed them that the girl's condition was critical and that the hospital had no objection if they wanted to get her treated at any other hospital of their choice. The intensity of the poisonous substance she consumed was so strong that the medications did not have any affect on her. We always make all efforts to save the patients till the very end, they clarified.

After circle inspector Valentine D'Souza and office-bearers of a local organizations intervened and arranged for a conciliatory dialogue between the two groups, the dispute was given a decent burial.
