Bengaluru, Jan 3: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has now been caught in a fresh controversy regarding denotifying land which was meant to be Bengaluru’s lung space.
The BJP on Wednesday accused Siddaramaiah for denotyfying 2.39 acres on survey numbers 27/1, 28.4, 28/5 and 28/6 that was originally earmarked for park or other public use.
Addressing a press meet, Former Deputy Chief Minister R Ashoka said Siddaramaiah has favoured a private developer named Ashok Dhariwal, who is setting up a multi-crore realty project on the denotified land. He also released documents to support his claim, including an Urban Development Department order dated November 18, 2014, allowing the land to be converted from its original purpose.
Ashoka pointed out that previous chief minister Jagadish Shettar had rejected the proposal of land conversion as the 2.39 acres is attached to Lalbagh and was meant to be a lung space. Siddaramaiah’s action will further deplete Bengaluru’s green cover, he alleged and demanded the denotification is cancelled. "We will make sure this reaches its logical end," he said.
The CM who faces charges of denotifying large tracts of land meant for the Arkavathy Layout, was also accused of denotifying 6.26 acres of land in Bengaluru's Bhoopasandra.
However, Siddaramaiah has strongly rejected all charges.
