Two from Bantwal get Kali Yogesh's call for protection money

Bantwal, Jan 4: A complaint received by the town police station here has claimed that two businessmen from the town have received threatening calls demanding payment of protection money (Hafta).

The caller in the both cases reportedly identified himself as Kali Yogesh.

Nagendra V Baliga, a jeweller, and Prakash Anchan, who runs textiles shop, received the calls.

Nagendra V Baliga having his jewellery shop in this town was asked to cough out protection money of Rs 50 lac while Prakash Anchan running textiles business was told to pay Rs 25 lac, it is said.

The textiles businessman received call at 11.10 am on January 2. The caller reportedly told them that in case of failure to pay Hafta as demanded, they will face the same fate like that of Sanjeeva Shetty textiles shop at Mangaluru and Jayalakshmi textiles,Udupi. The complainants said that the caller also threatened to destroy their families.

The police said that both the entities have been provided with armed police security.

    Bhatkal goons were controlled by police shoot outs ... After the shooting of 1990's.... no more cases of shop looting and other disturbances... Even the Bhatkal police were successful in catching the goons who were keeping the beef in nagabanas .... There should be atleast 100 dead bodies in police firing in Mangalore ...enough is enough....
