Mangaluru, Jan 4: Leaders and members of the district BJP were arrested after they tried to protest and stage 'rasta roko' (road blockade' at the city's PVS junction here on Thursday January 4.

The BJP was protesting against the murder of right-wing activist Deepak Rao at Katipalla on Wednesday January 3.

The protestors raised slogans against the state government and demanded justice in the case. They also demanded the resignation of home minister Ramalinga Reddy and district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai over repeated cases of assaults and murders in the region.

However, before any protestor could speak, the Bunder and the Pandeshwar police arrived at the spot and rounded up the protestors.

Among those arrested were BJP leaders Vedavyas Kamath, Roopa D Bangera, Monappa Bhandary, Satish Prabhu, Poornima and others.

Traffic was affected for sometime at the busy junction.

Imagine one of the BJP members family member got stuck in such traffic blockade and died without due to lack of medical help in time?
If they want to protest go to hospital and give some blood which can someone's life in need.

Does blocking the traffic ever helped anyone?

BJP is simply earning a bad name for itself here. These were old tactics that no longer work now. People can see through the politics here. All this drama is not helping BJP in any way.

Now on every hindu who died unnatural deaths are becoming rightwing hindu activists for BJP .. They will grab this opportunity for political purpose till the forthcomming elections are over. The act is condemnable but politicising and spreading unrest is unfair.

The right to peacefully organize and gather in support or against an issue is a fundamental part of a good working democracy. Of course, it should be done keeping in mind the inconvenience to larger public and reduce such inconveniences.

I sympathise with Deepak's family...Let those who killed Deepak whoever it may be let them rot in Jail... I have no qualms.....But how can administration give 10 lakh compensation for one type of murder ...Will they follow same example in future ...I am just asking was same yardstick applied when Jaleel Korapadi or some other recent political murder took place...
And Also how local Kannada Media doing live stream of a funeral when they had to maintain utmost restraint instead of whipping up people's emotions is deeply worrying...
Did local Kannada TV media did the same thing with the funeral of Ashraf Kalayi or Jaleel Korapadi with live streaming .. funerals of Deepak and Sharath is turned into some sort of heroes ...Just exposes how most of the TV and news channels are in bed with particular org

I do agree, media should not consider them as hindu activist rather all of them are working for BJP. the culprits are seen with Palemar and Kalladka bhat and the whole family of the murderers were actively campaigned for BJP, Deepak was working under a muslim guy called Majeed from last seven years without looking at his religion. Police should bring the truth out like the previous murder where the victims sister and her lover was main culprit.
