Vasco: Poet Yusuf Stresses on Motivational Activities For Students’ Growth

Vasco, Jul 21: ‘Teachers, parents, and students, collectively shape the destiny of a nation and the most essential element of progress is motivation for growth in different disciplines’, said  Yusuf A Sheikh, noted Konkani poet and former station director of Doordarshan, recently.

Sheikh, was speaking as the chief guest at the annual general body PTA meet of the Municipal High School, Vasco. He added that inherent talents in each student should be exploited and encouraged by teachers, parents, and the state alike.

Annie Ferrao, headmistress, while delivering her welcome address stressed on all round development of the students and explained how dedicated the school was in trying to attain this objective. Kiran Kosambe, was the guest honour and delivered an illustrated talks on ‘Weights and Measures’, appealing to the public to come forward with complaints so that defaulters can be booked under law.

Valentina Barreto, secretary of the PTA, read out the minutes while Umesh Asgaonker, chairman of the PTA, also spoke. Earlier prizes were distributed to the students for academic and extra curricular activities. Also present were Ashok R Chodankar, editor of ‘Konkonn Divo’ and Linton Barreto.
