Mangalore, Jul 22: Vice-president of Dakshina Kannada district Congress committee Ivan D'Souza has said that the Congress members of parliament from the state would oppose the union government's decision to divert 100 mega watts of power from the central grid to Andhra Pradesh.
While addressing a press conference here on Monday July 21, Ivan D'Souza came down heavily on the local BJP leaders for failing in exerting enough pressure on the state government to secure more funds for the development of the city and surrounding areas in the recently presented state budget.
When one of the pressmen pointed out that the Congress MPs too had exhibited their lack of will by not opposing the union government's decision to cut short power supply to the State by diverting 100 mw of power to Andhra Pradesh. D'Souza said the Congressmen would oppose this decision and take up the state's case with the centre.
D'Souza said that the local leaders from the ruling party in the state had failed to get funds for the vented dam across river Netravati, construction of court complex in the city, Mangalore University and sky bus project etc. This shows poor leadership of district-in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar and BJP state president Sadanand Gowda, he opined.
Citing that leaders of Hubli-Dharwad region have succeeded in garnering a lion's share in the budget allocation, he also accused the BJP-run Mangalore City Corporation administration in failing to address the grievances of the citizens on various fronts.
