Mumbai, Jul 23: Ekta Kapoor calls it her most ambitious project. Kahani Hamare Mahabharat Ki has been in news even before it hit the small screen. Ekta Kapoor is known to have turned every stone to make it look bigger and better than all the ealrier mythologicals ever seen on Indian TV.
Once the show opened earlier this month, people were completley taken aback by the sensational beginning of episode one. Everyone was more shocked than surprised to see the most salacious bit of the legendary epic coming alive on the very first day of the show.
Ekta is completely elated by her doing and says in an interview, " I decided to do my own version, and take on the criticism from the very first episode. I used the cheerharan like a prelude to grab viewers' attention. And people are shocked by our beginning."
Kapoor says every change in the original Mahabharat was done in close consultation with her. She proudly shares that "I don't want this to be just another one of my soaps that comes and goes. Twenty years from now I want someone to call up another producer and say, "Dude you just made the new version of Ekta's Mahabharat".
Not just the initial episode, but the cast and the sets of the show have been the talk of the town as well attracting both criticism and praise.
While some praised the scale and locales, others like Mukesh Khanna blasted the sets of Hastinapur, calling them unauthentic. Ekta defends herself saying, ""It is real location. We shot the first two episodes at the Aamer fort. It took me seven days."
Ekta is absolutely unapologetic about her choice . She adds "I love the Aamer fort. The response I got was overwhelming. I did it without caring about the results. I've made the Mahabharat for a new generation. I don't care what the traditionalists think."
Are the traditionalists listening? By the way, this from the maker of some of the most regressive soaps on Indian TV!
