UPSSC constituted, former bureaucrat C.B. Paliwal named Chairman

Lucknow, Jan 22 (IANS): The Yogi Adityanath government on Monday constituted the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Commission (UPSSC) and named retired bureaucrat C.B. Paliwal as its Chairman.

Those named UPSSC members are Kumar Agarwal, Seema Rani, Hriday Narayan Rao and Onkar Prasad Mishra.

Chief Secretary Rajeev Kumar constituted the services selection panel as per the Chief Minister's instructions, an official spokesperson said.

The government had sought a proposal for constituting the commission in August last year.

The Chairman's post was lying vacant for a long time. Informed sources said the constitution of the UPSSC signalled impending major recruitments.

Paliwal has manned various state and central government posts and was named Chief Vigilance Officer of the Steel Authority of India (SAIL) in 2010.

The commission makes recruitments to the subordinate services in various departments.
