Surat: Kannada Sangh Felicitates Meritorious Students

Surat, Jul 29:
The Surat-Silvasa Kannada Seva Sangh, Dadra Nagar-Haveli, organized a talent contest and cultural programme, besides felicitating student achievers, recently at the Town Hall in Silvasa Nagar. M N Krishnamurthy, divisional officer, BSNL, Surat, presided over the event.



Addressing the gathering, Krishnamurthy said that it’s commendable that the local Kannada Sangh has been involved in yeomen service in the distant land of Surat with an objective of bringing together all Kannadigas settled here. He urged all Kannadigas to work for the progress of Kannada Sangh harmoniously.  
 
Prof G S Lokeshappa, principal, S S R College of Education, was the chief guest. He congratulated the Sangh for its efforts in promoting talents of Kannadiga children.

Entrepreneur Pushparaj Shetty, awarded cash prizes and trophies to 61 deserving students and assured financial assistance to the Sangh. Dr Sandeep Naik, Sangh president, delivered the introductory speech. 



Sudhakar Shetty, vice-president, was also present. Malcolm Pereira, secretary, read the annual report.  Cultural programmes were held under the direction of A S Acharya, Sangh treasurer. 

Jagdish Shivapura, Aryabhata award winner and coastal popular Karnataka musician, staged a Kannada music concert in memory of legendary actor Dr Raj Kumar. Jayasree Hiremat compered the programme.
