Mangaluru, Feb 6: The state high court (HC) has served notices on city mayor, Kavitha Sanil, and others relating to raid conducted on a skill game centre in the city sometime back. In addition to the mayor, city police commissioner, T R Suresh, Pandeshwar police inspector Belliappa, and health officer of the city corporation Dr Manjayya Shetty happen to be the recipients of this notice.
The HC also stayed all types of actions taken or proposed to be taken against the skill game centre until further orders.

"The police have been keeping an eye on recreation clubs since long and bothering them with raids and other actions. Even after we reiterated that only computerized skill games were being run in the centre and confirmed that gambling was not taking place, the police department continued to harass us. Therefore, we brought stay order. Even after this, mayor Kavitha Sanil raided the centre, and demanded to produce trade licence," said owner of the centre, Sujitha Rai, thorugh her advocate, Vinod Kumar, in her petition filed in the HC.
Kavitha Sanil stated that she is not aware about the HC notice, duly adding that the lawyers will tackle the issue. She said that the raid on the skill game centre was conducted on behalf of the city corporation in the backdrop of complaints received from the general public and not out of any vested interest.
