Karkala, Feb 7: Udupi DCIB inspector Sampath Kumar led police team arrested Santhosh Poojary at Bhatkal railway station on Tuesday, February 6. Santosh Poojary (27), resident of Hermunde, Patrabettu, had tried to kill his wife in cold-blood manner at Kukkudadi, Hermunde.

The operation was conducted on orders by Udupi district SP Laxman Nimbargi under the guidance of additional SP Kumar Chandra and Karkala ASP Hrishikesh Sonavani.

A police team had gone to Mumbai in search of Santosh as he was working there. They could not get any leads there. But on Tuesday, police learned that Santosh was in Bhatkal by tracking his mobile phone. Then a team went to Bhatkal to arrest him.

Anushree, Santosh’s wife, had arrived in private bus from Karkala to Thellaru at 5.45 pm on Saturday, January 27 and was walking on the pathway in front of the high school near Balaji Cultivations close to Swarna River. Santosh, her husband, who came from behind attacked her then with knife. He did not allow her to get away by severely injuring her. Her hands and legs were mutilated. She was rushed to a hospital later.

The couple was married just a year ago. Anushree, proceeding for divorce due to differences, is said to be the cause of the assault.

Santosh was taken to the spot of the crime and he will be produced in court on Wednesday.

Present time, one has to watch each step. We see so many fights in the train. For not giving one rupee due, a person was killed recently in Thane. For forty rupees, a boy killed his classmate in north India. So many atrocities on wives happening nowadays.

Recently, in Mumbai, a highly qualified wife wanted to go for job after children had grown up. She was Asst Manager before and she stayed at home to look after her young children. But, her husband objected to her going to work now, since he is earning well. But she does not want to waste her ability sitting at home. Husband complained to her father, who also is well off and while argument heated, the father told him what he can do, at the most divorce. For that husband said "I may kill her and kill myself" If this type of mentality is there, what one can do in this world ?

There is still chance for Santosh & Anushree to patch-up. Santosh has to understand that he cannot take her to Mumbai and make her to do household chores. He cannot expect the house to be all neat and nice food cooked for him when he comes back after his work. Those were the olden days. He also needs to have a cool mind. Now the girls want to work just like the boys. There is nothing wrong in this. He can shift to Bangalore since chances for her to get a job there are more and she already had a job. There are so many lodges in Bangalore. I'm sure he would find a nice job over there. He has to focus on "Happy married life". Let him work part-time and workout remaining time. I'm sure Anushree would forget the word "Divorce" forever.

@Rob stan Udipi US, one cant mend broken hearts .Once he tried to kill.Where is the garantie he will never try again to the utmost. It is also impossible to stay together when once they had nothing to say.It will be a torture. Those days are gone of showing the world that both are happy.People are educated today and are quite free to earn their own.Now he has to support her whether he wants or not.I really pity the woman.

Why police arrested him? He should have been encountered and finished him off. Now our court will tell he is honorable, desirable, politicianable and so on. We are following a pure culture of " Jo dar gaya oh mar gaya".
