Bengaluru: BJP MLCs hold dharna over stopping of midday meals to Kalladka school

Daijiworld media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Feb 7: BJP MLCs on Tuesday February 6 held dharna in the state Legislative Council accusing the Congress government of 'playing politics in the meals for poor children too' for stopping the free midday meals that was provided for poor students of Sri Rama School in Kalladka by Kollur temple.

BJP MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary raised the issue during the Q&A session and questioned, "Why were free meals that were being given to 2,500 students of Sri Rama School, a system that was being followed for the last 11 years, stopped suddenly? Who recommended this? Is this because this particular school is in Kalladka or because the name of the school is Sri Rama?"

Replying to the query, Rudrappa Lamani, muzrai minister, said, "Kollur temple falls under the muzrai department. According to the Karnataka Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act, there is no provision to provide free meals to private school students. That is why the practice was stopped. Similar action has been taken in other schools also which were getting free meals from temples under the muzrai department of the government of Karnataka.

"Providing free meals to school children from the funds of the temple since 11 years itself is a grave mistake. The government cannot carry out any act for which there is no provision in the law. The government is willing to verify the requests for free meals in these schools, if they apply for the same."

Eshwarappa accuses Ramanath Rai

K S Eshwarappa, the leader of the opposition, who got furious with the reply that was given by Rudrappa, said, "There was no problem in providing free meals till Ramanath Rai, district in-charge minister of Dakshina Kannada, wrote letter to the government. Immediately after receipt of Rai's letter, the practice was stopped. Poor students are deprived of meals because of the 'hate politics' of the district in-charge minister.

"The government which boasts of schemes like 'Anna Bhagya' and 'Hasivu Mukta Karnataka', has deceived the poor children," he alleged.

Why temple is under govt supervision? Secondly, people who donate the money to temple not for govt to utilize them. Temple should spend the money on the society, run schools and provide better facilities to people who come from long places.

All temples are already under govt control. The govt pays salaries to pujaris and other temple workers. This is because the vast majority of temples do not get enough money as donations to run them, only a small number of temples get the most of the donations

It was all a game plan . And the winner is the Game player Kalladka School Management.

They played a game so that Kollur Team got annoyed and withdraw the meal. Then the Kalladka team took it to the BC Road Road march taking the innocent kids on the roads.

Then one Mumbai group started collecting tons of cash in the name of Kalladka school. Then many more groups started collecting cash in the name of providing free meals for the Kalladka school.

The Kalladka team also started new game of collecting ' 'pinch of rice' scheme so that can be used for meals. All put together the lesson is free meals were coming from Kollur team but no cash.

Now free cash Free meals and what? No accounts..And nobody wants to know who won the Game.

Very simple. If All other private aided schools are provided this free meal, then that school too need to get.
If it is only for government run schools, then definitely, they too are not eligible. However, all these can contribute and provide food to these poor children. If they are so humans in nature.
Or If cannot, they can handover the school to Government, so the poor children can get the facilities.
What Mr Rai has to do in this?? Or Fight for free meals for all private aided schools. Why keeping poor kids as shields and fooling public??

I was a witness to Rais pre election speech in Bantwal. He roared that he would arrest Kalladka Bhat if he was elected. Almost 5 years and to this day it has not happened. Bhat made 2 fiery speeches subsequent in the first month of Rais Tenure and he had no dhum to arrest Bhat. So to show his mardangi and power he resorted to this step. I feel sad for the poor children. What ever our political affiliation and support is , no religion practices to stop feeding a hungry stomach. These children are so innocent they would not know what BJP or Cong is. If Rai is trying to appease his Muslim vote bank with this practice, I assure you , no one is going to support him.

    Very Well said Mohd. Bhai.
Don't deprive the hungry stomach with vote bank politics. If Mr. Rai has done this to take grudge against KB, then no one should support Mr. Rai. Today it has happened in one school, tomorrow it might be more schools. Don't bring politics to schools, where innocent children are studying. During our time, we never heard politics in schools and we Hindu's, Christian's & Muslim brother, live, play and stay together without any hate mongerness and lived in Harmony. Realized politics is dirty.

    Hello JNB,

u are saying one thing, Arm Chair Philosopher saying othwer thing,

finally Rai said he didn't inform any one to stop food, but unfortunately public got letter from Rai to stop fod to poor student.

If Rai want to fight with KPB, let him fight with him, but stoping food to children that too from temple money (Not govt money) is not good.

thousands of people donating to temple by thinking our money should be utilized in good cause.

giving food that too children is supreme cause,
as I know all the religion students are eating food in that school which was from Temple money, and no one said only hindu students should eat.

children's are same as god as we learn.

Note my word, rai will face problem to food in his old age (day will come, he have money but notable to eat what he want and can buy due to dioceses)
