Mangaluru, Feb 9: Inspector general of police (IGP) of western range Hemant Nimbalkar has been transferred.

The state government issued transfer orders on Friday February 9.

IPS officer Arun Chakravarthy, who is presently serving as IGP of internal security division, Bengaluru, has been appointed new IGP (western range) in Nimbalkar's place.

Nimbalkar has been tranferred as IGP of criminal investigation department, economic offences, Bengaluru to fill the existing vacancy.

Interestingly, Chakravarthy had served as IGP of western range in 2016 too and was transferred in just six months.

An officer of the 1995 batch, J Arun Chakravarthy, a native of Chitradurga, has also worked as assistant SP, Sagar, Shivamogga district, SP of Raichur, SP of Chitradurga, deputed to United Nations Organization for Peace Keeping Operations in Eastern Europe, SP of Shivamogga district and SP of Vijaypura. As deputy IGP he served as director, Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation, Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement, Bengaluru, deputy inspector general of police, Karnataka Lokayukta and while serving here was promoted as IGP. He has been IGO of Karnataka Lokayukta, forest cell, police headquarters, Bengaluru, and IGP of central Bengaluru, besides IGP of internal security division.

Hemant Nimbalkar had taken charge as IGP (western range) in August 2017.
