Bengaluru: 'Amit Shah a coward, Modi misusing I-T dept to target Congress' - Dinesh Gundu Rao

Bengaluru, Feb 9 (PTI): Accusing BJP of using government machinery to target political opponents, Karnataka Congress Working President Dinesh Gundu Rao today called its national President Amit Shah "a coward".

He also alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Shah, was indulging in a "heinous" act of using departments like the Income Tax to target opposition leaders, which no other political leader has done in the past.

"Narendra Modi and Amit Shah are indulging in heinous act of troubling Congress leaders and their friends deliberately, through I-T raids and by using other government machinery," Rao told reporters.

Stating that no political party or leader or Prime Minister had indulged in "hate politics of this nature", he said, "to defeat and liquidate opposition party, no one had indulged in such cowardly act. So it is right to call Amit Shah - coward."

Condemning Rao's comments against Modi and Shah as "derogatory", BJP state President B S Yeddyurappa in a statement said, "by making such comments he is proving that he is unfit to be in public life."

He said the Income Tax department was an organisation that functions independently and making such comments was "irresponsible", "immature" and "childish" on part of Rao. Also, stating that comments were made to "impress" Congress President Rahul Gandhi who is visiting the state from tomorrow, Yeddyurappa has demanded evidence from Rao for his allegations.

The Congress party and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had earlier too accused the Modi government of using the Income Tax Department for its "political conspiracies", following searches by the department at multiple properties related to senior minister D K Shivakumar in August last year.

if Godhra was real conspiracy why Congress didnt uttered word during Gujrat election,..now Congis along with their activists, lawyers like Jaisingh behind LOHYA case who died naturally, his family has no doubt..

but Congis tried to influence to allocate case to their judge, failed, so conspired against CJI, CJI didnt budge, now went to president....but SI Ganapthi named culprits, gave TV interiew, written death note...no activist, no teesta, no Jaisingh raises voice daily..they have no doubt on his death!!

I have one simple straight forward question to be asked :

When the whole India was suffering with demonetization effects how Janardhan Reddy spend INR 550 crores on his daughters marriage ? Why BJP not shown any interest to find his source of income and why there was no raid !!! Who supplied bank notes to him? How he acquired crores of cash money ?

When elections in any state are in horizon, Amit Shah first goes behind the money trail of congress party to identify those people who are congress financial supporters and then send IT raid after their businesses....Once the money power for party funding is blocked, then go on election campaign to convince masses to vote for BJP.....Meanwhile Jay Shah is already starting to increase his business turnover from Rs. 50,000 to 700 crore to now 7,000 crore...

Next raid should be Gundu family. Ruined the state for quite sometime. Before showing finger's at others, look how much development Late Gundu Rao has done... Nil.. Nothing... Looted the state for many years. By making such comments on the media, if you think Congress will come to power you are dreaming Dinesh. People of Karnataka are not fools.

Even if one is clean, the harassment one undergoes is too much to bear.

And there are many among us who think once an IT raid takes place we treat such person as corrupt no matter he turns clean. That's called image spoiler.

These raids takes place to targeted people of opposition at the prime time of elections.
