Udupi, Feb 11: A migrant worker of north Karnataka origin was done to death with a hoe. The murder happened at Vidyanagara on Achchada Road near Katapady in the taluk late night on Saturday February 10.

The body of the worker was found lying on a heap of sand by some locals on Sunday morning. They then conveyed information about it to the police.

A hoe that was supposedly used to kill the man, and a sachet of curd that perhaps was being taken for dinner, were found lying by the side of the mortal remains of the worker.

The identity of the man remains a mystery as local people do not know him. The police have summoned workers of north Karnataka origin living in the area in an effort to establish his identity.

Police personnel of Katapady outpost rushed to the spot and undertook investigation.

@Vincent Rodrigues, Katapadi/Bangalore-Killing anybody is a heinous crime beyond pardon and this kind of barbarian act is condemnable.I do agree with your comments but nowadays in coastal region this has become a daily affairs without any consideration, mercy or sympathy. Our comments, writings, sympathy remains only in papers. This kind of heinous activities are going on daily basis without any full stop.Because nobody has the fear of our judicial system, police department and so on.Even if somebody is caught, the very next day police department will get the telephone call from the known political leader and order them to release him immediately.Guilty, culprit will be released the same moment without any trial or charge sheet against. He will be the king from that day onward and start hunting for his prey. This will go on like this as long as there is no strict, stringent punishment is not meted. But people like us definitely feel sad and sorry for what is happening in our region

Guilty to be nabbed and need to be put behind the bars without any exception.
