Mumbai, Feb 12: “It is unfortunate that the indifference and crisis towards Kannada language has been kept hidden. We should preserve the language. The language of the land is becoming extinct. It is a matter of anxiety that regional languages are being defeated. As languages are being used for politics these days, their harmony has taken a beating. Tragedy is created, but the problems are not solved. Kannadigas are enemies of Kannadigas. There is fear that Kannada may die if we do not awake. If Kannada is made the primary language and English is made optional, Kannada will be a lively language,” said Professor S G Siddaramaiah, president of Kannada development authority, Bengaluru. He was speaking at Mogaveera Bhavan, Andheri west on the second day of the national conference of Horanadu Kannadigas in the morning of February 10.
