Biker snatches Iranian national's mobile phone

New Delhi, Feb 15 (IANS): An unidentified biker snatched a mobile phone from an elderly Iranian national here who had come to visit India, police said on Thursday.

According to the police, the incident occurred on Wednesday when the victim identified as Sorosh, 63, left his guest house 'Parsi Anjuman' at Delhi Gate to visit Rajghat.

"When Sorosh was waiting for a cab with his wife Seema and his son at Delhi Gate, a biker snatched his mobile phone and escaped towards LNJP hospital," a senior police officer said.

Sorosh alleged that he informed the Police Control Room (PCR) immediately but the police reached after 20 minutes.

"The incident occurred near DCP office and Police Headquarters, but police did not take any swift action," Sorosh told IANS.

"Sorosh was earlier in Mumbai and had come to Delhi four days before," the police officer said.

"We are examining the CCTV footages of nearby roads and are taking the help of locals to identify the snatcher," he added.
