Three IS supporters arrested in Morocco

Rabat, Feb 16 (IANS): Morocco's interior ministry has said that it has arrested three "dangerous supporters" of the Islamic State.

The central bureau for judiciary investigations (BCJI), under the general directorate for territory surveillance (DGST), made the arrests on Thursday. The three IS supporters, aged between 24 and 30, were operating in the cities of Laayoune, Salé and Marrakech, said an Interior Ministry statement.

Investigations revealed that the suspects have pledged allegiance to ISIS and were involved in inciting murder as part of the terror organization's bloody approach, and were also trying to gather expertise in manufacturing explosive devices, said the statement, according to MAP.

It was found that one of the men, who had in the past joined camps of the 'Polisario' separatists in Tindouf, was preparing to launch terrorist acts inside the Kingdom as part of the IS' agenda, the ministry said.

A search operation led to the seizure of electronic equipment, an identity card issued to one of the suspects by the "puppet republic", a military uniform and a flag of the so-called "polisario".

The suspects will be brought to justice upon completion of investigations, led under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, the source said.
