Bengaluru: Home minister Reddy, BJP spar over use of EVM in state polls

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Feb 27: The opinion expressed by state home minister, Ramalinga Reddy, about the working of electronic voting machines (EVM) has provided fodder for his critics to make fun of him. BJP, reacting to his comments, said that Reddy, who already has been able to grasp the inevitable outcome of the election, has begun to issue irresponsible statements.

Addressing a press conference, Reddy had claimed that BJP had got 60 percent votes in Uttar Pradesh elections where EVMs were put into use. In places where EVMs were not used, he said BJP got only 30 percent votes. Therefore, he said he and other likeminded people have some reservations about the use of EVMs. He demanded that the EVMs used in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh are kept away from election in the state.

Ramalinga Reddy & Suresh Kumar

BJP spokesperson, Suresh Kumar, hitting back at Reddy, said that political parties should always welcome electoral reforms. He felt that it does not behove well for people like Reddy to support old arrangements which supported irregularities. "Reddy has learnt to speak more often after becoming home minister, but he has tragically forgotten to speak properly," he quipped.

Suresh Kumar said that Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, Dr Parameshwar, shed tears at the condition of Vidwath. He felt that it is strange that Parameshwar's heart melted at Vidwath's health complications. "He is not part of the government. The government aims at sheltering Harris. Rahul Gandhi has not spoken anything about this incident nor has he apologized. He seems to think that attacking innocents is birth right of his party activists. The presence of Harris in the meeting of senior officials convened to discuss the issue proves that the government is of goondas" he said.

Ramalinga Reddy clarified that MLA, Harris, was not present at the meeting of senior officials. He clarified that no such meeting was held in his office as claimed by BJP and wanted to know from BJP which insight provided to them this false information.

Mr HM... you want your children to get technical career like software engineer, mechanical engineer or Doctor etc... Every where now automated machines and computing method is used. Whole world is looking at latest technology and innovation we need for our future... Pl stop your propaganda against EVM and stick to those old methods of ballot papers.... WHICH IS PRINTED by some mafia gangs sponsored by Govt and cheated the voters in village by stamping on ballots and driven away them from entering the elction booth. Those days are gone.. you can not fool every one now... because people are aware of mobile, computers, ticketing machine, ATM Cards, Digital ID etc ... which is used even in villages now.. just face the election with wise thoughts and showing your good work in the govt.. EVM's are tested by election commission and they wont cheat people like you do...

IT IS VERY STRANGE THAT VOTERS' ID IS NOT LINKED TO AADHAAR EVEN THOUGH EVERTHING ELSE IS LINKED. IT WOULD HAVE MADE VOTING TRANSPARENT AND FREE OF IRREGULARITIES LIKE DUPLICATE VOTING, IMPERSONATION AND SO MANY OTHER EVILS. IT LOOKS SUSPICIOUS WHY THE GOVERNMENT IS NOT TAKING ANY STEPS TOWARDS THIS. THE RULING PARTY SAYS PAPER BALLOT IS OUTDATED AND EVMS ARE HITECH, DON'T THEY REALISE THAT USING INDELIBLE INK ON VOTERS' FINGERS IS ALSO EXTREMELY OUTDATED.

Mr.Suresh Kumar . Haris case is not bad as Manoj Baitha, whose speeding car killed 9 children in Bihar. and yet BJP initially denied that they have a member by that name until they suspended him from the party.

Shameless, feku BJP.... your time is up

Voter ID should be linked to AADHAR and Voting should be done from Individual Mobile Phones.
and 1-AADHAR linked Voter valid to 1-Vote. Now this is called real development.

why note vote via a mobile phone app- its easier and can be real time monitored . No more guarding the evm , transportion , too much costs .
Anyone who cannot use phone can go to the nearest post office and use EVM machines .
There are too many conerns and issues around EVM and its usage

There is no fool proof system to stop fraud using electronic machines unless there is a paper based print..
Micro-controllers can be programmed to tamper on specific date , specific time, specific GPS location, auto adjust, auto manipulations... auto button sequence....

With micro-controllers the possibility of manipulation is infinite. So don't waste time on calibration of these EVM's

Only the programmer who load the executable file knows how he programmed...

I still dont understand why BJP is so keen on using EVM's....
