Mumbai, Aug 12: Ranbir Kapoor says he is very grateful to the film fraternity that though his debut film Saawariya, a musical by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, bombed at the box office he has still got good offers from filmmakers which show that they trust him to deliver a good performance.
Ranbir has three big films in his kitty – the Yash Raj banner’s Bachna Ae Haseeno, Prakash Jha’s Rajneeti and Rajkumar Santoshi’s Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.
“It is really heart-warming that even though Saawariya flopped, I have got offers and really good ones,” he says. “This shows that my performance did not go unnoticed and that people rely on me to do good work. I hope I can do justice to their trust.”
In Bachna Ae Haseeno Katrina Kaif was supposed to play the fourth love interest of Ranbir but her role got chopped off leading to media speculations. We quizzed him about why this actually happened?
“Oh it was nothing. The decision was taken to make the film shorter. We were going over time and then they (director and producer) thought that the chapter wasn’t required and in fact it wasn’t adding anything more to the film. There’s nothing to read in between lines,” he says.
Ranbir debuted with a fantasy romance and his second film is also a romantic comedy. What does he have to say about his choices?
“Well this (Bachna Ae Haseeno) is more real than Saawariya. The good thing here is that I get not one but three girls; unlike Saawariya where I don’t get the girl I love,” he laughs.
He adds: “Every film is a challenge. Everybody wants to do a good job in their all films, so do I. I have put in my best and I hope audiences like my performance.”
To end with Ranbir tell us something. How did you fall in love? “Well first thing is I don’t plan at all and when it comes to love, you should never plan to fall in love. It’s so instinctive that it just happens,” he sings off.
