Rajasthan to introduce uniforms in colleges, Congress cries ‘saffronisation’

Jaipur, Mar 5 (Zee News): The Rajasthan government has clarified on the diktat to introduce uniform for college students in the state. Speaking to mediapersons, Rajasthan Education Minister Kiren Maheshwari said that it was the demand of students that there should be a dress code in colleges.

“Yeh students ki hi demand ki unke colleges mein dress code hona chahiye, jisse yeh clarity aaye ki padhne wala bachcha hai (it was a demand of students that there must be a dress code in their colleges, so that there’s clarity that they are students),” she said.

The Rajasthan education minister further clarified that they have not issued any direction on the colour of the uniform that the colleges allow. “In the end, students have to decide,” she added.

The Congress party, meanwhile, hit out at the state government over the new directive alleging that the Vasundhara Raje government was working on the directions of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

“Rajasthan mein sarkar RSS ke ishaare pe chal rahi. Pehle curriculum mein badlaav kara, phir school mein bhagva kapde pehenne ka notice diya. Ab sab kuch bhagva karke, yeh sabko baba banana chahte hain (In Rajasthan, the government is working on the directions of RSS. First they changed the curriculum, then they issues directions for school students to wear saffron. Now they are making everyone wear saffron and will make them godmen and godwomen),” said Congress leader Govind Dev Singh Dotasar.

According to local reports, the government is expected to take feedback from student unions and college department heads on the uniform for each college. The PinkCity Post quoted an Education Department official as saying that the idea behind the move is to impose discipline. He also said that the uniforms would be made compulsory from the new academic session.

The feedback of each college will be forwarded to the government by principals of colleges concerned, following which a final decision on the colour would be taken, said the report.

Since BJP has committed to Indian culture and dress, the following garments cannot be worn by you as they are not Indian culturally: Shirts (European) Pants/Pyjamas (Chinese/Central Asia), socks, T-shirt and baniyan; yes your underwear too (jersey was invented in Europe), Kurtas (Central Asia, Ottoman, Moghul). That leaves you with a kashti or pudvem and a shawl or cloth to cover your torso.
By the way, it was not in Indian culture for Indian women to wear a bra or a sari petticoat. The former came from the France, the latter from Victorian England. Also, when the coloniser came to India, there were no cholis, except for the devadasis who used a kind of choli. Till today we see older generation ladies and tribals in villages, drape their sari navari style (please note, no petticoat) and drape the paloo loosely around a torso without a choli.
Will Rajasthan Education Minister Kiren Maheshwari agree to go to your ministry office in this attire?
Why only dress code should be implemented on students? Why not sanctity of assembly can't be the example for youth of nation our politician wearing uniform?

When all wear the same colour, then, there will be oneness with the student body. Colour might be any colour, whether saffron, kaki, maroon, brown or any colour. or the mixture of all. But all students should have the same colour will be better. Less controversy.

"The PinkCity Post quoted an Education Department official as saying that the idea behind the move is to impose discipline."

What discipline one can give to grown up college going men and women ?? With dress code and uniform one cannot build discipline in grown up.
Discipline is thought during childhood and that is the age the foundation is made strong. Badon ko discipline sikhana ye koI teachers ya lecturer ka kaam nai hai. Jo Bachpan mein discipline maa-baap se nai seekh saka kya wo bada hokar k apne lecturer se sikhega?
Concepts of uniform in colleges is a third class mentality idea of medieval mindset people. These saffron party and it's medieval thoughts are not deserved to survive in 21st century. All these people should build their separate nation and implement their third grade policies.

Pink, a delicate color that symbolizes sweet, nice, playful, cute, romantic, charming, feminine, and tenderness, is color of Rajastan Capital, the pink city. This color is good for girls uniform and for boys off course best is RSS uniform color, keeping with the importance of the Head Master.

Nothing wrong in making uniform compulsory, however the right to select which uniform or its color should be left for colleges to decide.
