Bengaluru, Mar 6: Vidwath, son of entrepreneur, Lokanathan, who was being treated in Mallya Hospital after having been attacked by Mohammed Nalapad and his gang of friends, was discharged from the hospital on the night of Sunday March 4.

Mohammed Nalapadand is the son of Congress MLA N A Haris.

Vidwath,who was brutally attacked by eight persons including Mohammed Nalapad, Abhishek and Arun Babu on February 17 had been kept in the intensive care unit of the hospital till February 24. He had been shifted to the ward thereafter. Although the hospital had expressed willingness to discharge him on February 27, at the request of his parents, he was continued to be treated at the hospital.

Sources said that although he was to be discharged on March 3, he had to wait till Sunday for health insurance formalities to be completed. He was sent home at around 12.45 am on Monday.

Parents of Vidwath said that they chose to keep Vidwath in the hospital as taking him home would have resulted in increased visits by friends, relatives and well-wishers, as he needed rest badly. In all likelihood, Vidwath will take rest for some days and then go to Kerala to get himself Ayurveda treatment.

In the meanwhile, Mohammed Nalapad has questioned the rejection of his bail petition on March 2 by the 63rd sessions court here. Advocate representing Nalapad, Usman, presenting arguments before the single judge bench presided over by Justice S Harish Kumar, requested the bench for emergent hearing of the petition. The judge expressed reluctance to do so as several memos seeking urgent hearing are pending. He fixed March 7 as the date of hearing of the petition. Senior advocate, C V Nagesh, is expected to argue the case on behalf of the petitioner when the same is taken up.
