Mangalore, Aug 19: Bhasker Rao, transport commissioner has assured additional bus services to Ulaibettu, the place of the last week's tragedy in which 11 persons including 9 school children were killed.
Rao who visited the spot, interacted with the locals on Monday August 18. He promised the locals that he would ask the regional transport officer to allow either private or KSRTC buses to Ullaibettu t for better connectivity.
Public approached transport commissioner to convince him about lack of better transportation in the area, soon after he arrived at the incident spot. They also complained that each bus is filled with more than 100 passengers during each of its trip owing to shortage in bus services.
Rao said that he had been convinced regarding the inevitability of more number of buses on the route. 'I will see that you get more buses from your place to the city, either to Mangaladevi or Mallikatte'.
In response to villagers' demand that they required buses to State Bank terminus, he said that it would be difficult to permit bus service to State Bank as it would be the violation of DM notification.
Village leaders were also invited to the RTA meeting to press their demands to be held at DC's office on August 23.
