Mangalore: Train Service to Bangalore Resumes

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (MM/RD)

Mangalore, Aug 20: Passenger train services to Bangalore resumed on Wednesday August 20 night, sources informed.

The train services were disrupted from August 10, owing to landslide between Sakleshpur and Subrahmanya.  Following this South Western Railway (SWR) had cancelled all goods and passenger train services on this route till they restored the track. Railway tracks were badly damaged at Shiribagilu and Edakumeri, when the hillock caved in on the track.

The railway officials pressed their workmen and machinery in order to clear the heap of soil and boulders that fell on the tracks. However, it was only at 12.00 noon on Wednesday August 20 that SWR restored the tracks and inspected them by running mechanical trolley.
