Contract workers of more than 20 private companies along with the Goa state Government employees union partcipated in the countrywide strike called by the All India Trade Union Congress in Panaji on Wednesday. More than 3000 contract workers from across the state assembled in the Capital city and took out a massive rally starting from the Kadamba bus stand to the Azad Maidan. The rally was led by the AITUC leader Comrade Christopher Fonseca along with the other leaders.  The workers later assembled on the Azad Maidan to attend a huge meeting wherein issues of a common contract worker was discusssed.  Along with the Banks and buses, ferry service was also hampered as a result of the strike. People were forced to use canows to ferry people from the Divar village to Ribander. Police force was deployed at all the sensitive areas including all the Industrial estates.
