Bangalore, Aug 21: It was a joyous occasion for the Archdiocese to participate in the celebration of St Bernard's feast, who is also the patron of Archbishop Bernard Moras of Bangalore on Wednesday August 20.
The programme began with the Eucharistic celebration at 6 pm at St Francis Xavier Cathedral which was followed by cultural programme at St Germain Hall, Cleveland Town. More than 100 priests participated in the celebration.
Chancellor Fr Michael welcomed the gathering making a special mention of Bishop Derek Fernandes of Karwar, Monsignors, vicar generals of the Archdiocese, provincial superiors, superiors of various houses, parish priests, religious, faithful and the relatives of Archbishop Moras, for their gracious presence.
Fr Christopher led people with the introduction mainly reflecting on the life of St Bernard. Fr Clement in his homily exhorted the devotees to be like a rose which speaks no words but simply spreads the fragrance which is noticed invisibly. Bishop Moras in his festal message advised the faithful to witness the love of God on their daily lives and to be a model to the people of other faiths.
The Archbishop was felicitated and the Archdiocesan directory was released on the occasion. Students of the Archdiocese who scored 80% & above in the Board Exams were given mementoes & cash of Rs.1,000/- each and honoured. The designer of the directory Fr Benny, Anil Rego managing director of Brilliant Printers and staff of the Bishop's was specially thanked and recognized.
Msgr Amritraj proposed vote of thanks in which he wished Bishop Moras heartiest happy feast stating that Bishop is the common father in Christ for the Archdiocese having zealous leadership undertakings in all fields like spiritual, social, educational and pastoral activities.
The programme concluded with cultural events by NBCLC & solo dance by Paul, student of St Joseph’s evening college.
