Panaji, Aug 25: The Goa Institute of Management (GIM) in association with the state government, is organizing a national level annual conference, 'Samriddhi 2008', in Panaji on Saturday, August 30. The two-day conference will address issues of development and strive to find practical and viable solutions to industrial growth.

'The seminar of the initiative is 'green infrastructure', and it will focus on the concepts of green infrastructure or sustainable infrastructure, its feasibility, and the business implications,' said Prof Alan D'Souza, director, GIM.

The seminar will be conducted by eminent people including former power minister Dr Suresh Prabhu, Dr Sharad Kale, and Dr Sabharwal of Bhaba Atomic Research Centre, Ahmar Raza from the ministry of renewable energy, Anil Kane, president of world wind energy association and corporate advisor to Suzlon Energy Ltd, and K Subramanya, CEO of TATA BP Solar.

'Samriddhi will explore the possibility of forming partnerships with the government of Goa and corporate houses, for sustainable development. The conference aims to adopt a solution-based approach to various issues, many of which will be discussed during the sessions, stated D'Souza.

'The session will include 'waste management' which will take a deeper look at managing kitchen, sewage, and waste management by the hospitality industry. 'Green power', which will consist of wind and solar energy and green ports and airports. It will also analyze the role of green architecture in today's world with special emphasis on eco-tourism and the need for green housing in the future,' the director added.

D'Souza credited the students wholly for coming up with this initiative. The conference is primarily aimed at the major corporate houses of India who are interested in or already working towards sustainable development along with the students and professors of major colleges in the country.
