Mysuru: In Facebook post, Siddaramaiah calls for building Karnataka model of development

Daijiworld Media Network - Mysuru (DC)

Mysuru, Mar 30: Chief minister Siddaramaiah in a Facebook post batted for building a Karnataka model of development where Kannada language has primacy, and where people are assured of all amenities that enhance quality of life.

Siddaramaiah is all set to create history by becoming the first Karnataka CM to finish full five-year term in 40 years

"It has been an honour to serve the people of Karnataka for a full five-year term. As a state, we have come a long way, and our journey continues towards building an inclusive, progressive and dynamic Karnataka," he wrote on his Facebook page.

"The Nava Karnataka we build together is one where the Kannada language has primacy, where the Kannada flag will stand tall and proud and where Karnataka makes India proud," he said.

In his FB post, Siddaramaiah said that all the children in Karnataka must be assured of ten years of quality education, skill training for the youth, girls must get free education, irrigation to the farmers - which are programmes already announced by his government.

"Going forward, we will work with all to strengthen and build the Karnataka Model of Development where all children are assured of 10 years of quality education, all youth are assured skill training and sustainable jobs, all farmers are assured of irrigation or at least basic minimum income directly into their bank accounts, where all girls will receive free education till post graduation, all students will travel in govt public transport free, where economically weaker degree students will receive laptops, where all houses have a smoke free environment, where there are no huts but durable houses across the state, where all villages are connected with all-weather roads, where all villages and towns have safe drinking water, where all houses are connected with electricity with 24 hours of supply, where innovation and enterprise drive our state’s development, where technology transforms governance, where renewable sources contribute to a majority of our energy needs, where digital connectivity is assured till the last mile, and where there is peace & freedom from communal violence."

Chief minister Siddaramaiah is all set to become the first Karnataka chief minister in 40 years of state politics to complete his full term in office. Siddaramaiah who hails from Mysuru assumed charge as the chief minister in May 2013. Karnataka Assembly polls will be held on May 12, before Siddaramaiah-led government completes its full five-year term on May 28 as announced by the Election Commission.

After D Devraj Urs who ruled as chief minister during 1972-77, no other CM was able to complete a full five-year term.

At least Siddaramaiah is talking of 'development' . But PM Modi and BJP who have promised 'development' to the nation is now only using single line statement of 'Hindu'.
Did anyone in PM Modi's or BJP speech heard talking about 'Acche din', 'Gujarat Model', 'Black money return', 'anti-corruption','2 crores employment' and .......................

I am pity on those 'Hindus' in this forum who are openly supporting PM Modi not even bothered to ask why his own BJP ruled state of Uttar Pradesh is unable to provide basic health care facility like 'Oxygen'?
Do 'Oxygen' 70 years of Congress experience in a constituency were CM Yogi and his father are ruling from last 30 years?
If Cows can ambulance why childrens of Uttar Pradesh can't be supplied with Oxygen?

Karnataka development is far superior than 'Gujarat Model' despite PM Modi government limited support in the turmoil of 'Cauvery' and 'farmers' suicide issue.

We Kannadigas want real development with 'Baswana Tattva' which respect every citizen of the state.

    Jai Hind

When it was not election time, whenever Jootly, Venku Naidu, Rajnut, Nirmalakka etc BJP leaders visiting Karnataka, they all openly admitted "Karnataka is most developed state", "Siddhu is a best CM" etc... but now it is election time, DAKU and his gang must say... "Yeddi is most corrupt"!

While this model needs to be debated and caliberated to get it right, I think the time is ripe to test Siddaramiahs vision if he comes to power the next time around. He has made ample ground work in current tenure which has got mixed results but it seems base has been formed to build on and course correct as we go forward.
The model of federalism he espouses wherein India flags flies high above the flags of various states would symbolise our ethnic diversity governed by variety of local governments sensitive to local issues and forming rules as per local needs. But this is ruled over by a constitution which upholds rule of law and ensures that fundamental rights of every citizen are upheld at even the basic level of individual liberty. This model would ensure that every diversity has a voice even over the brutal din of majoratarionism.
The challenge would to ensure the local majority would not mow down rights of other citizens who would have become minoity at local level , for example a Hindi speaking family moving into Mangalore and the education challenges it will face for their childs education.
