Panaji, Aug 27: The State government is considering conducting the studies on the impact of coastal management zone  notification, 2008, on the coastal talukas of the state.

Replying a question in the ongoing state legislative assembly session, minister for environment Aleixo Sequeira said that the state government is well aware about the draft coastal zone management notification, 2008 issued by the union ministry of environment and forest.

Goa's environmentalists and fishermen community, earlier, had raised their apprehension about the new notification. The fears were raised that the notification will open the coastline for uncontrolled development.

The minister said that the state government has not made any representation to the union government on the issue.

He conceded that there are differences between draft coastal management zone notification, 2008 and the existing coastal regulation zone notification, 1991.
