Hong Kong can decide on Nirav's arrest, says China

Beijing, Apr 10 (PTI): China on Monday said that Hong Kong can take its own decision on India's request to arrest fugitive Indian diamond merchant Nirav Modi based on local laws and mutual judicial assistance agreements of the Chinese special administrative region.

Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh told Parliament last week that "the ministry has sought the provisional arrest of Nirav Deepak Modi by the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), the People's Republic of China."

"If India makes a relevant request to the HKSAR, we believe HKSAR will follow the basic law and relevant laws and under relevant judicial agreements with India," he said.

    Nothing but 'Headlines management' by Modi government to give impression to the people that some breakthrough has been made. In reality, Modi government is not even sure if Nirav Modi is actually in Hong Kong or not. There is no confirmation from the Modi government on Nirav Modi being in Hong Kong or not. Seems that the request for provisional arrest has been made on an assumption and also for political mileage. The paid media will not ask Modi government for confirmation ? why ?
    Some one has said that whenever the Modi government puts out any news, see what they are trying to hide or make people believe by putting out that news.

    When news is anti BJP then comment is 'ALL' parties are involved but when news is anti Congress party then 'ONLY' Congress party involved is it ? Very nice way to support BJP ? Why can't be open about it ?
