Mysore: Kannada Literary Field Loses Eminent Writer HSK

Mysore, Aug 30: Famous Kannada columnist H S Krishnaswamy Iyengar, popularly known as HSK which was his pen name, breathed his last on Friday, August 29. He was 89.
HSK suffered cardiac arrest at his home here in the morning. He was immediately admitted into Apollo hospital. But he did not respond to treatments and expired at 9.30 pm.
HSK was a scholar in many fields and was an expert at viewing things in a comic and ironic way. Sharp and curt sentences were his forte. He had profound knowledge in various fields like literature, finance, social science, politics alike and was considered an authority in all these fields. His writings on political scenario had been highly popular. He could also right with equal flair on spiritual issues.
HSK used to write columns to several publications from the state at a time. He is widely credited with the achievement of winning the status of literature for columns. He was a diciplinarian and used to provide his write ups to the publications as agreed, without creating any problems, unlike some writers who depend on moods to be able to write. As such, he was very popular with publications.
He also used to write under his other pen name, 'Samadarshi'. Besides, he was adept at writing effective write ups on personalities. He is survived by a son, a daughter, grand children and scores of fans. His wife Ambujamma bad breathed her last about three years back.
His funeral will be conducted today afternoon. Dignitaries from the literary world and his fans have condoled his death.
