Udupi, Jun 24: A passenger travelling on a private bus from Shivamogga suffered a sudden medical emergency near Parkala, but the bus driver's timely action helped save his life.

Realising the seriousness of the situation, the bus driver, Manjunath, acted swiftly and diverted the bus directly to the emergency department of a private hospital in Manipal. The passenger was immediately admitted for treatment.

Doctors provided the necessary medical care, and the passenger is now reported to be in stable condition and recovering well.

Bus driver Manjunath said, “While travelling from Shivamogga to Udupi yesterday, the conductor alerted me that a passenger appeared to be unwell. I immediately checked on him after stopping the bus near MIT and realised he was showing signs of cardiac arrest. He was cold and drenched in sweat, so I decided to take the bus straight to the emergency department of a private hospital in Manipal without asking the other passengers to get down. I simply did what any human being should do. Since I also drive an ambulance, I could understand the seriousness of the situation, and I believe any responsible driver would have acted the same way.”

The driver's prompt presence of mind and timely action have drawn widespread appreciation from the public.
