Udupi: No one can defeat Halady Srinivas Shetty, says Sukumar Shetty

Udupi, Apr 13: BJP ticket aspirant from Byndoor constituency, Sukumar Shetty addressing media persons on Thursday April 12 said, "Byndoor is a constituency filled with BJP wave. It has 64 backword villages, but the Congress MLA did nothing in terms of development throughout its 18 years.

"Despite the presence of five rivers namely Souparnika, Varahi, Chakra, Edamavinahole and Kubja, people still face severe drinking water problem. In addition, roads are also a further handicap. What has Gopal Poojary done in these 18 years? Development of roads alone is not enough to win the elections.

"I am not disappointed that my name is not mentioned as I am confident I will get a ticket for my services. I understand the feelings of the people and I have been in cordial relations with them since five years. About former MP J P Hegde, I cannot say anything. He has contested from Udupi, Kundapur and Byndoor. The political system is like that. He is an active politician and has worked in politics for 20-30 years. He has a lot of experience in the field. The only reason for my entering politics is to do social service as I have no other reason otherwise.

"If J P Hegde gets a ticket from Byndoor, it will not create worry among the people. What can one do in just 25 days regarding election promotion? There are 243 booths and 57 shakti kendras in Byndoor constituency. People are intelligent enough to think and decide. Youth are in search of jobs. They will make the right choice.

"The resignation of seven district level leaders from the post will not have any effect on Byndoor. Halady Srinivas Shetty is a very gentle and humble man. He has always been there for the people and so nobody can defeat him.
