Bengaluru: Karnataka polls - Total seizures by EC, police in state touch Rs 22.34 crore

Bengaluru, Apr 14: The total value of goods for distribution as freebies during elections and cash in Karnataka by the police, flying squads and district election officers has touched Rs 22,34,25,420 crore so far.

According to information gathered from different districts, a total of 1,156 flying squads and 1,255 static surveillance teams have been activated.

Flying squads and other model code of conduct teams constituted for the purpose of enforcement on Model Code of Conduct have cumulatively removed 12,537 number of wall writing, 17,693 numbers of posters and 7,711 number of banners from public property and have lodged 6 Cases under Karnataka Open Places (Provisions of Disfigurement) Act 1981.

From private property cumulatively 6,866 number of wall writing, 7,949 number of posters and 2,543 number of banners were removed.

Further, static surveillance teams have seized cash of Rs 8,95,77,950, 200 grams gold worth Rs 6,00,000, 1,500 'T' shirts and 1,500 track pants worth Rs 2,00,000 and a vehicle in last 24 hours.

Cumulatively, the static surveillance teams have seized Rs 20,81,45,420 cash, gold 7.503 kgs worth Rs 1,76,80,000, silver worth Rs 11,47,200, 4.5 litres of liquor and vehicles and other items worth Rs 1,35,87,772.

The flying squads teams have seized Rs 5,05,750 cash, 14 vehicles, 4965 grams of Silver worth Rs 1,20,000 and 130 Hand Bills in last 24 hours. Cumulatively, the flying squads teams have seized Rs 1,45,80,000 Cash, 563.787 litres of liquor, other items worth Rs 13,07,08,580, 71 vehicles worth Rs 1,37,58,060.

Other police authorities have cumulatively seized cash worth Rs 7,00,000 and 10 sarees, 160 laptops and 509.2 litres of liquor.

Cumulatively, flying squads, SSTs and other police authorities have seized cash worth Rs 22,34,25,420.

Flying squad teams and other police authorities have booked FIRs in 17 cases of cash other items related to seizure and other model code of conduct related violations in the last 24 hours.

Cumulatively, flying squads they have registered FIRs in 285 cases. SSTs they have registered FIRs in 3 cases of cash and other items related to seizure in last 24 hours. Cumulatively, static surveillance teams have registered FIRs in 64 cases.

While excise department have seized 8686.5 litres of IML and other liquor worth Rs 50,59,568 and booked 63 heinous cases, 92 cases for breach of licence conditions and 123 cases under Section 15 (a) of Karnataka Excise Act 1965 in the last 24 hours.

Cumulatively, 33,828.692 litres of IML and other liquor worth Rs 1,66,90,842 and booked 678 heinous cases, 1042 cases for breach of licence conditions, 02 NDPS case and 1590 cases under Section 15 (a) of Karnataka Excise Act 1965. And also 282 different types of Vehicles have been seized.

Police have 672 arms got deposited, 672 persons were bounded over under preventive sections of CRPC, and 1529 non-bailable warrants were executed, preventive sections of CRPC booked in 539 cases, 2 armed licence were cancelled, 853 nakas made operational in the last 24 hours.

Cumulatively, 67037 arms have been got deposited since the date of enforcement of model code of conduct and out of total 97,037 arms 92,494 arms have been deposited till date, 50 arms were impounded, 6 armed license have been cancelled, preventive sections of CRPC are booked in 12,403 cases, 11,433 persons were bounded over under preventive sections of CRPC and 22994 non-bailable warrants were executed from the date of enforcement of elections.

    Why EC is not disclosing how many people are involved and their Identity is not diclosed. Catch the people and interrogate and put them behind bars. How anyone will come to know that less money gas been disclosed.

    So much of vigilance and efficiency of EC by flying squads and swimming squads and what not in Karnataka which is a non BJP state. Was it the same treatment in BJP ruled states like UP, MP, Rajasthan, Gujrat etc just before elections?????... EC is very lenient for use of EVMs in Karnataka at the behest of BJP there is no restriction on it????....
