Udupi: Netizen booked for campaigning for BJP, sharing derogatory posts about Congress

Udupi, Apr 15: An FIR has been filed against a youth for allegedly violating the election code of conduct by asking people to vote for BJP through social media and sharing derogatory content against Congress.

The accused, Akshay P Shetty, had posted content on social media with political clippings from a web page called 'Trishul'. He also shared allegedly derogatory content against Congress that were posted in Udupi BJP social media group, and urged people to vote for the BJP by posting pro-BJP pictures.

Noticing Akshay's posts, complainant Pramod S R sent an email to the election commissioner as well to the deputy commissioner about Akshay and urged for action against him. Both the officials accepted the complaint and directed Udupi flying squad official Dayanand Bennur to register an FIR against Akshay.

Accordingly, Udupi police have registered a case against Akshay under the Representation of People's Act 1951 and 1998.

    I thought that the RSS supporters have always done this.They love posts from postcard, Trishul & so many other fake news sites that have derogatory posts against the whole Nehru family descendants.The posts glorify Modi no end.What's different in this that this man was booked?Is it because he holds a certain post or as its election time,?

    The mainstream media is only highlighting the issues against BJP in a biased manner ..congress fears that the effective use of parallel media such as facebook to counter these allegations by rss/bjp.
    The karnataka elections is going to be the last nail on the already dead congress party which is appeasing the minorities and insulting the majority hindus
