Kasargod: Kathua rape - Undeclared bandh gets total response, stones pelted at bus

Kasargod, Apr 16: Kerala has been observing protest by way of hartal although this measure of protest has not been formally declared, condemning the incident in which an eight-year-old girl was raped and brutally murdered in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir. The strike has been total in the district, with buses and other vehicles having remained off the road today.

This hartal is being observed in the name of Janapara Samiti Kerala. Call for strike had been given trough messages and campaigns undertaken through social websites including WhatsApp. This call had given rise to confusion in the minds of the people. Still, vehicles including buses have not taken to streets since Monday April 16 morning. Shops and establishments remain closed. Tyres, boulders, branches of trees etc were seen to have been kept across the roads at a few places to obstruct traffic.

Stones were pelted at a KSRTC bus on Sunday night. Incidents in which vehicles were stopped from moving on national highway were reported from Manjeshwar, Nayammaramoole, Eriyal, Cherkala etc.

In the meanwhile, 25 persons who tried to block vehicular movement were arrested by the police. Since Sunday evening, messages announcing bandh on Monday wee circulated actively. The messages however, did not mention names of organizations or parties that had given this call. Even the police did not take these messages seriously.
In the morning, however, police took note of the situation arising out of sudden stopping of vehicular movement and blocking of some vehicles at some places. The police have since taken precautionary measures to see that no unsavoury incidents happen during the period of bandh.

The sudden strike created lot of problems for the common people. Those who did not know about the bandh call and reached towns and cities for various works are facing hardships as offices and shops are closed and vehicles are not moving. Passengers too faced lot of problems after a few vehicles and buses were blocked by sympathizers of the bandh call. A number of people who arrived by trains here today morning faced problems in reaching their homes or other destinations as no passenger vehicles were available.

8 yrs old was raped in india and which is very sad and unforgivable act. Please don't abuse isreal for the crime done by indian. Blame citizens of the nation. Who did the evil thing for a child. Please hate no one. Hate solves nothing but with love and cam passion we can achieve many things.

Rape, bombs, murders donot solve anything but creates mess in the world. Whole world has gone crazy of religion and lts beleif system makes fight each otherz with rape murder and superior complexions. What happened in Syria and Iraq and Pakistan for many Christians. Same fate of rape and forcible conversion by terrorist with a support of religious leaders.now it happened in india for a little innocent child who don't even know what sex means. It is so sad and my heart has broken and cried when I see a picure of a child. U people never understand pain and suffering of others. Still cries out for.Palestinian or pakistan. Cry for the suffering of humanity people.

The whole nation is with the innocent victim except some right wing nationalists and their sympathizers. She will be an icon of India's downtrodden children. I sincerely hope her family will get justice from the court of law.

Yes, I did. In fact I do to every victim irrespective of their religion. Pl do not bring communal color here. Police are investigating the things. Let the law punish the guilty. We are no one to judge before the law. We all need justice. But why are these ppl damaging private/public properties in the name of Bandh.. God bless you!!

I have so many Muslim friends from Kasaragod, and they have added me in some of their whats app groups. From yesterday I am receiving video messages by muslims, urging muslims to make the harthal a success, saying that who do not support the bundh are not fit to be muslims etc. etc.. Many were hate calls against BJP indirectly pointing on Hindus.
Mr. Soans, make an attempt to reach till Uppala today... even ambulances are blocked!

    Ismail Saab,
Even I am for death penalty for every rapists. May be some severe punishment like chopping of body parts one by one till death for people abusing children.
What I oppose is not Muslims, not any religion, but definitely one section of Muslims who want to spread hate against Hindus by keeping Asifa's incidence in the forefront.
