Margao, Sep 2: At least 34 passenger including conductor and driver sustained injuries, on Monday, 1 September, after the Karwar-Karnataka bound private bus from Margao skidded off the road at Karmalghat-Canacona.
According to the police most of the passengers were from Karwar, Hallyall, Kumtha and other places of Karnataka. Among these 34 passengers 7 were minors.
Locals from this area rushed to rescue the passenger and evacuated them from the bus, by breaking the Glasses. They were then rushed to Canacona Primary Hospital, but as there was only one doctor present could not attend the large number of these victims.
It is only after local Canacona MLA Vijay Pai Khot intervened and arranged some private doctors. Plight of this hospital was so terrible that they did not even had Ambulance to shift these victims to Hospicio Hospital in Margao, 35 km from here.
It is then Canacona Sarvajanik Ganeshutsav members arranged some private vehicles and shifted them to the Hospicio Hospital.
Five among 34, who were stated serious were rushed to Goa Medical College. Two were rushed Apollo Hospital, rest are recuperating in the Hospicio Hopital.
Archana Rane, Jyoti Rane- Arlem Margao, Gokulldas Tandel-Colva, Bhaskar Tandel-Karwar, Subhash Rane-Fatorpa, Prashant Naik, Sitabai Naik-Karwar, Mahaballeshwar Naik, Rekha Shet, Suchita Gaonkar-Ponda, Jayashree Ambika-Karwar, Gajanan Gosawi-Karwar, Chetan Kotharkar-Curchorem, Maheshwar Harikant-Ankola, Harish Desai, Amit Desai-Ponda, Uday Salskar, Ujwala Salaskar, Siddhesh Salaskar, Anisha Salskar-Navelim, Uday Chandrakant Ankolkar-Honnavar, Babu Tamanna, Sita Wallke-Kumtha, Maruti Naik (Conductor), Archana Sawant, Ankita Sawant-Ponda, Dinesh Prayag-Sanguem, Sumitra Rane, Archana Rane-Karwar, Maya Naik, Kapil Naik- Navelim, Ulhas Sawant, Anil Naik-Karwar, Poonam Sudhir-Mhalwado, Rahul Naik and Prabhakar are among those sustained injuries.
