Governor Appeals People to Defeat Forces of Religious Intolerance

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Sep 2: The Governor S C Jamir has greeted the people on the joyous occasion of Ganeshotsav. In his message Jamir has said "Ganeshotsav was started by Lokmanya Tilak in Maharashtra with the objective of uniting the people to secure freedom for the country. Over the years, the festival has become one of the most popular socio-cultural festivals of India.

Today at a time when forces of religious intolerance are raising their heads, it is necessary that people stay united and defeat the designs of those seeking to divide the country on casteist, communal and regional lines.

I wish the people a very happy Ganesh Festival and pray to Lord Ganesh to grant peace, happiness and prosperity to all the people of the country."
