Mumbai, Sep 2: Konkani Bhasha Mandal Maharashtra had organized a talent contest for children on Aug 31 at Jerimeri St Judes hall in the city. These contests were held to celebrate the 16th Konkani Manyata Diwas (16th Konkani Recognition Day), as Konkani was included in the 8th schedule of Indian Constitution on Aug 20, 1992. The grand finale of these events will be held on Sep 28, 2008 by celebrating Konkani Day at Gyan Ashram, Andheri here.
A large number of children participated in the Konkani Talent Contest with lot of zest and zeal. Competitions were held in singing, dance, elocution and story telling. The children were grouped in different categories for the purpose. Leo Fernandes, Ron Michael, Lawrence DSouza Kamani, Harry Boy, Felix Veigas, Dazy Vaz, Walter D'Souza, Gregory Veigas, Agnes DSouza and Shalini Corea were the judges.
