Bengaluru: Congress complains to EC against Janardhana Reddy for insulting Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru, Apr 29: The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has filed a complaint in the Election Commission (EC) against former BJP minister Gali Janardhana Reddy for his comments insulting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

The letter dated and submitted on April 28, states that Former Minister Janardhana Reddy while campaigning for Sriramulu, the BJP candidate from Molakalmuru, addressed the press and made insulting comments against Siddaramaiah and equated him to Mahishasura, the demon.

Reddy was quoted saying “Sriramulu has been fielded by the BJP to kill (Samhara) Siddaravana”. Further, Reddy also stated that in Badami Assembly Constituency, Goddess Banashankari has created Sriramulu as Rama to finish Siddaravana, indicating CM Siddaramaiah.

The letter alleges that BJP chief ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa made similar comments.

The KPCC has asked the Election Commission to take action against Janardhana Reddy and others as his statement is a violation of Model Code of Conduct and the provisions of Part IX A of Indian Penal Code (Section 171) and section 125 of the RP Act.

“It is a clear exercise of undue influence to woo voters of Chamundeshwari and Badami Assembly constituency. The said statement has been telecast on TV channels on April 25 and also published on newspapers on April 26,” the later states.

The letter signed by KPCC General Secretary M Venkateshwar and MLC V S Ugrappa has been uploaded on the official twitter handle of Karnataka Congress.

    Though I don't support saffron party roping Reddy, I see the desperation in Cong with their presence.

    He must have learnt all these verses when he was inside the jail may be otherwise he would not have known all these except stealing and looting the mines from the governments and others , he is ignored every where yet the shameless is waging tail behind everyone.
