Mangaluru: Akhila Bharatha Hindu Mahasabha in poll fray, to take on BJP and Congress

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru May 3: Akhila Bharatha Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM) is all set to contest in the upcoming assembly elections and they have fielded two candidates in two constituencies in the Dakshina Kannada district. Suresh B Salian will be contesting from Mangaluru North while Dharmendra will contest from Mangaluru South.

During a news talk show on Daijiworld 24x7, ABHM state working president Rajesh Pavithran said," It is not new for Hindu Mahasabha to contest in the elections. Our party was restricted for 40 years and it took time for us after relieving from the restriction. We have actively taken part in Zilla Panchayat and Gram Panchayat elections and also contested in the last elections,”

"We supported BJP in the last election. In this present scenario it is important for us to contest in the election. Hindu Mahasabha has vast history and our party is the one who dedicated 21 MPs during British rule. We supported BJP in Lok Sabha elections. Modi was able to taste the victory not only because of BJP but because of the organisations like us who supported them,” added Rajesh.

He also said,"When Yeddyurappa became Chief Minister, he was into resort politics. Goonda Act was introduced by the BJP and it was enforced on Pramod Muthalik who worked for the society. Later when Congress came to power, they imposed cases on all the leaders. Injustice was started by Congress but there was more injustice to Hindus from BJP,” he informed.

ABHM district president Naveen Kumar said," We have fielded two candidates in Mangaluru North and South constituencies. We are also planning to field our candidates in corporation and panchayat elections. Depending upon the result, we are planning our future course of action. Mangaluru South candidate Dharmendra has done tremendous work in the past 8 years and this will be a biggest advantage ahead of assembly elections,”

When asked about Modi wave and strengths of Congress in coastal belt, shattering Hindu Mahasabha, Rajesh Pavithran said," They were in fear when we decided to contest in the elections. Hindu Mahasabha’s history says it all. Wherever there is name of Hindu Mahasabha, there will be sense of fear. They even tried to withdraw our candidates’ name,”

"We will not divide people. We do not differentiate among people. We follow our ideologies ' Hindu Ondhu Bandhu'. Here every representative can be a leader while in other parties does not have such opportunities. Discipline started from our organization and will continue. We supported the BJP but we did not become their members or took up any positions. There was lot of injustice and mental torture on us on Ayodhya issue. Most of the representatives here have suffered and waiting for a right platform. History tells that Hindu Mahasabha has done sacrifices, where the BJP or the Congress have not.”he said.

    @ David Pais,

Shame on you that you calculate the voter propensity based on religious lines. What is the difference between you and the BJP which banks on Hindu votes?

If this is the frame of mind with which you think, then why not just amend the constitution to have representations in Lok Sabha and State assemblies on religious lines?

It is easy to blame the BJP for dividing the country on religious lines. But please look deep within and you will see that the seeds are sowed in each of our households when a kid is born. And that is why I HATE religion. It poisons everything.
