Udupi, May 4: In a jolt to the district BJP, as many as 25 members of Kundapur BJP unit on Friday May 4 resigned from the party, apparently unhappy with ticket allotment to Halady Srinivas Shetty from Kundapur constituency.

Among those who resigned were former president of Belve gram panchayat B Uday Kumar Poojary and Muchettu gram panchayat president Rajiv Kulal

They met Udupi BJP district secretary Kuthyar Naveen Shetty and submitted their resignations from the primary membership of the party.

They said that they decided to resign as they were unhappy with Halady Srinivas Shetty being given the BJP ticket from Kundapur.

"After the last elections when Halady contested and won as independent candidate, he had filed a false complaint against BJP workers in Belve and Machettu. Even though he has been the MLA of Kundapur for several years, the constituency has not seen much development under him. Rural areas still lack basic amenities like roads. Title deeds have not been given to beneficiaries, and he has failed to respond to the problems of the people. He even contested as a rebel, but the party still chose him," they said.

"We are pained by the ticket allotment to Halady Srinivas Shetty, hence we are resigning from the primary membership of the party," they said.

The clarified that they would not be joining any other party. "We will hold discussions with the people of Kundapur and decide on the future course of action," they said.

It may be recalled that soon after Halady's candidature was announced, several BJP members and local leaders resigned from the party.

This phenomena is common during election with any political party.. New comers always believe that they will be given a good post of ticket to contest. This naturally creates mis understanding and dis pleasure in the minds of existing workers... Winning candidate concept hold good here ....

Halady should have contested as independent rather than joining corrupt BJP. Blaming BJP left and right last time he got sympathy votes. Same toungue is praising Yeddy now. He may be shameless , but voters are not.

Srinivasa Shetty did nothing, he is there to satisfy his Ego. He has taken people for granted. I wont be surprised as told earlier he will loose. His own people will not vote for him. Actually Malli is a man with action.

In Kundapur Congress don't have candidate to contest against Halady
    Because everybody knows the result.
That's why they bring Malli from Bantwal.
I appreciate Malli for contesting the election in Kundapur
But Halady will win more that 40000 margin.

People of Kundapur will give thier verdict on May-12-2018 on Halady Srinivas Shetty's MLA candidature and on his performance about whether he has done any work in his constituency or not.

Times Of India survey on 224 constuency in Karnataka gives Pramod Madhwaraj(MLA,Udupi assembly constituency) first position in performance and Gopal Poojary(MLA,Byndoor assembly constituency) second position.

Number 3,4 and 5 position goes to ruling party Congress MLA's accross the state.6th position goes to Independent MLA of Kundapur Mr. Halady Srinivas Shetty.

An Independent MLA occupying 6th position in whole Karnataka with regard to performance in thier constituency speaks volumes about Halady.

Last time he won with 40000 votes margin as Independent which is 3rd highest margin in state .This time, he will win by 50000 votes margin.15th May result will shut the mouth of all those who are opposing Halady just for the sake of opposing him.

Nani, What a pathetic state of affairs, Feku was praising Deve Gowda like hell . Looked like he wanted to join Janta Dal & now Nitin Ghatkari, was raising the Shiva Sena slogan in Karnataka & he says Jai Maharastra in Karnataka. What a bunch of Jokers . Criticizing their own Party members. Womit Shah did the 1st honours by calling Yeddiyoorappa as the most corrupt Chief minister. Shoba will be back to Beedie rolling after this elections. B.J.P is Forever Doomed . Feku only talks about Nehru, insted of talking about his achievemnts , which are zero to date
