Bantwal, May 6: A post went viral on social networking sites, showing the 'Daiva' displaying its outrage by piercing the 'Kadsale' to the ground in the Nemotsava that took place at Sri Malaraya Dhoomavati Bunta Daivasthana at Mallur near here.

During the Nemotsava, the person who had donned the role of Daiva had instructed Manjayya Shetty, mentor of the Daivasthana, to garland Mohiuddin Bava, Congress candidate of Mangaluru north assembly constituency, who had arrived to attend the religious function. However, when the locals objected to this act of Daiva, the Patri (the person who donned the role of Daiva) of Bunta Daiva showed his displeasure by piercing the Kadsale to the ground.

The villagers were accused for the embarrassing situation that occurred during the occasion. However, the villagers of Malluru have objected to this allegation. They say that there is no tradition of Daiva ordering to garland anyone in the Nemotsava till date. If one was to be respected, the same would have been done by offering the Prasada. There was no need to garland the person. This is the defence which the villagers are offering to the incident that has allegedly maligned the name of the youths of Mallur village.

Villagers have also clarified that they have worked relentlessly for the renovation of the Malaraya Dhoomavati - Bunta Daivasthana and have conducted this religious occasion with full faith on the deity. The youth of the village have expressed their anguish at the act of the Patri of Daiva which they felt that was disrespectful to the Daiva.

The villagers of Mallur have given their clarification on the social media in a video with regard to this issue and have told that this is a mishap that has occurred from the Daiva Patri. There is no tradition in these kinds of Nemotsava of the Daiva asking to garland anyone. It is not at all right on the part of the Daiva Patri to have asked to garland the Congress candidate who arrived as a guest on the occasion. Villagers are not responsible for this awkward situation. There is no need for the villagers to get scared that there will be some untoward incident as the Daiva has pierced the ground with its Kadsale. Daiva Patri is responsible for this incident.

Now the villagers are unhappy about the behaviour of the Daiva Patri also.
