BJP chief slams Rahul, recalls Emergency era

New Delhi, May 18 (TOI): Terming Congress's support to JD(S) in Karnataka as "shameful", BJP president Amit Shah on Thursday hit out at Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and recalled how civil rights were violated by Congress when Emergency was imposed in the country.

"The Congress president obviously doesn't remember the glorious history of his party. The legacy of Rahul Gandhi's party is the horrific Emergency, blatant misuse of Article 356, subverting courts, media and civil society," Shah tweeted, reacting to Rahul's allegation that the invitation to B S Yeddyurappa to form government in Karnataka was "murder of democracy".

"Murder of democracy happened the minute a desperate Congress made an 'opportunist' offer to JD(S), not for Karnataka's welfare but for their petty political gains. Shameful," Shah said.

He said BJP's win in Karnataka was the victory of every Kannadiga who voted to uproot the corrupt and divisive politics of Congress. "I am sure the new government under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will fulfil the aspirations of the people," he added.

people forget history very fast - same as Amit Shah and Narendra MODI. See their speeches .... history is twisted when it came to GEN KARIAPPA, GEN THIMMAIAH. No relevance. Likewise bakhts learn from these top leaders with no basic knowledge. Ask them one question - could you name the BJP/RSS member who fought for independence. The slate is blank.

The comical era of Raul Vinci Khan is over, without any achievement. 33 defeats , 23 state losses is all he can boast of. The Ktaka peoples mandate is very clear .They do not want Congress ! Just look at Mlore and Udupi. Its a white wash. RG now has turned to be a 'tour operator' shunting his MLA's from resort to resort in a bus. Abusing the JDS for the past years as 'BJPs B team, Corrupt, moral lacking party' etc. He has now approached them for support just for survival. With the condition that HDK to be the CM despite being in the 3rd place. Its so pathetic. Whats more shameless and also laughable is, his chelas still see a potential in him to be the next PM In 2019.

What I have observed about this BJP team is, ever since they were elected to power, whenever questioned, their stock phrase has been - the Congress also did the same thing. My dear BJP team, please don't lose sight of the fact that the people voted your party to power just because they were disillusioned with the Congress. The people expected you to do a better job and not to repeat the mistakes committed by the Congress. If you too behave like the Congress, what is the difference between you and them? Please stop pointing fingers at your predecessors, it is high time you pulled up your socks and started performing.
