Kundapur, May 29: The black tiger, which gave anxious moments to the residents of Soolaberu of Mooduru village in the taluk of Byndoor, was finally caught by the forest department personnel.
The black tiger was released into the forest near Kollur on the morning of Tuesday, May 29.
People had complained to the forest department regarding the black tiger, which had eaten 22 goats reared by Markadi Jose, a resident of Soolaberu. They were facing anxious moments because of this tiger. The forest officials had kept a cage trap near the house of Markadi Jose to catch the goat killer tiger. The tiger which entered the cage trap with the intention of eating the goat got entrapped in the cage.
It is said that the black tiger which was caught in the cage trap belongs to a rare species of tiger and is around six years old. Scores of people gathered to see the rare sight of a black tiger.
Sharath Shetty, forest officer of Kundapur taluk and staff along with the help of locals conducted the operation. It is believed that this is the same type of tiger which used to eat the goats. However, it is not known whether this is the same tiger that ate the goats.
