Bantwal, Jun 2: An argument under the influence of alcohol, between father-in-law and son-in-law ended in the murder of latter at Maninalkur near here on Saturday, June 2.
Ramananda (52) is the person deceased.
Ammanna Poojary (70) is the accused.
Ramananda hailed from Banakal in Chikkamagaluru district. After marrying Mohini, the daughter of Ammanna Poojary, he started residing in Maninalkur at Ammanna’s house. Ramananda Mohini couple have three daughters and the eldest got married recently. Other two work in a garment shop in Moodbidri.
It is said that Ammanna Poojary and Ramananda had some differences since some days and in between they engaged in arguments. When none was at home, the murder took place on Saturday.
When Mohini came back from her work, she found her husband’s dead body in a ditch near the house. Accused Ammanna Poojary too has sustained some injuries and has been taken to a hospital in Mangaluru.
Ammanna was married twice. Mohini’s mother died few years back. Ammanna’s second wife stays in another house in Maninalkur with her two daughters.
Exact reason for the murder is not known. But the police say, it was committed under the influence of alcohol.
Bantwal rural police have taken up the investigations.
