Good step from DC and this to be applied in all cases where work is not completed on time.

Its high time contracts are awarded to multinational foreign companies or at least to LNT. We have seen the quality of local highway construction companies and I guess none of them meet bare minimum standards....public opinion says half of the money goes into drains and babus and politicians. And thus result of poor quality. God save our highways. On the other hand Indian engineers worldwide are instrumental in construction top quality highways. NITK Civil engineering dept should be made to supervise and approve the release of road to public usage after satisfactory verification of standards! No political party is good enough to assure quality so far on highways, about our responsible MP's less said the better!

That greedy one is a NRI who rarely visits India!. You can see him here only when elections are there!! His followers are blind and are called bakhts!. He talks only about issues since Independence and doesn't open his mouth for things after 2014!. He has not even once said that he accepts defeat with humility and respects people's verdict but says others made unholy alliance and hence they lost!.

First of all why should one pay toll when road tax is already collected at the time of purchasing of vehicle.

Why no organisation is questioning this?

Road tax collections are too meagre to cover the costs involved in road building & maintenance. RTOs in Karnataka collectively earn about Rs.6000cr/year in terms of road tax, but BBMP itself spends about 10000cr/year to build & maintain roads in Bangalore alone. Now, think about amount spent on building & maintaining all roads in Karnataka. If tolls aren't levied, govt. will be forced to raise taxes through other means and this may even push up the cost of basic necessities. In fact, every available road (including city & village roads) should be tolled and this fixed one time road tax should be waived off so that vehicle users are charged based on the usage of their vehicle & toll charged at a particular location meets the cost of building & maintaining the road at that place.

Stop awarding contracts to local companies. Be it road or any sort of infrastructures award to multinational companies who are committed to quality and timely completion. No undertable and unethical deals. Flyovers in Mangalore are of extremely poor quality just hope and pray it does not collapse on innocents citizens
