Bengaluru, Jun 4: Leader of the Congress parliamentary party in the Lok Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, commented that the decision to continue H D Kumaraswamy as the chief minister of Karnataka for the full term of five years was taken by the party high command and conveyed by in-charge of party affairs in Karnataka, K C Venugopal. He stated that he is committed to this decision of the party.
Speaking to media persons in the city on Sunday June 3, Kharge said that all the leaders as a team have embraced the decision of the high command. He complained that his name is being unnecessarily being dragged in the issue.
"I have never held any discussion about the post of the chief minister. I have not even taken up this issue with K C Venugopal, nor did I participate in party's meeting. Still, my name is being involved without rhyme or reason," he complained.
About the resignation of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee working president, S R Patil, Kharge termed Patil as a sincere senior leader who has stayed loyal to the party. He said that party leaders will study the reasons for which he has resigned, and take a decision. "Personally I am not aware why he resigned. Party president and K C Venugopal will take a decision on this issue," he added.
