Bengaluru: Jayanagar assembly poll - JD(S) withdraws candidate, to support Cong's Soumya Reddy

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Jun 5: In a show of coalition camaraderie in the upcoming Jayanagar assembly constituency polls, the JD(S) withdrew its official candidate Kalegowda and offered support to Congress candidate Sowmya Reddy in the constituency.

Due to the sudden demise of BJP's official candidate and sitting MLA B N Vijaykumar, owing to heart attack on May 4, the polls in the constituency were shifted to June 11.

Sowmya Reddy is the daughter of Congress leader Ramalinga Reddy, who supposedly requested JD(S) party supremo H D Deve Gowda to withdraw the JD(S) candidate and instead support his daughter in the constituency.

Deve Gowda adhered to the senior minister’s request and thought it is better for both parties to support one candidate, hence avoiding the splitting of votes.

Meanwhile, the BJP has fielded Vijaykumar's brother B N Prahlad from the constituency.

With the Congress-JD(S) coalition in Karnataka, both parties are making sure that their internal differences do not become an opportunity for BJP to come into power at any cost.

Now Congress should resiprocate by not fielding in Mandya Lok Sabha bypoll and help JD'S) to win that has been vacated due to sitting MP elected state MLA seats.

Both JD(S)-Congress should have some understanding like Uttar Pradesh and wrest Shimoga and Bellary Lok Sabha seats as well.

They should also woo disgruntled elected members in BJP to its fold in the coming days.

Kirna, please tell us with honesty ,w hat will be the resons for thier loss. give some genuine reason for thier defeat and BJP's win in these constituencies. I agree on Kundapur and Karkala BJP has edge but remaining three its pure EVM. BJP is not fool to take 100% they will leave some leftover like UT Khader to make or relaise people that its not bcz of machines and same tactics has been used in bypolls.
