Rajinikanth’s Kaala clears Cauvery hurdle, set to release in Karnataka on June 7

Bengaluru, Jun 6 (HT): Kaala, directed by Pa Ranjith, will release in Karnataka on Thursday after facing hurdles in the state over its lead actor Rajinikanth’s allegedly offensive comments against Kannadigas during protests over the distribution of Cauvery river waters.

“#Kaala gets a new distributor in #Karnataka at the last minute as #GoldieFilms back out. The new distributor is the veteran #KanakapuraSrinivas producer and distributor. Release June 7,” trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai tweeted.

Srinivas will be releasing the film in over 130 screens across the state. The Karnataka high court has ordered the state to provide security to the theatres screening the movie.

The movie was supposed to be released by Goldie Films, which backed off after the protests by pro-Kannada groups heated up.

The buzz about the film is low compared to Rajinikanth and Pa Ranjith’s previous film Kabali and reports say the advance booking for Kaala is moderate. The fact that Kaala missed the holiday season release due to the protests in April also doesn’t help.

The industry, however, hopes the big-ticket film about the life of a Dharavi don, Kaala Karikaalan, who fights against oppression, will bring the audience back to the theatre in full swing.

Kaala also stars Huma Qureshi in a pivotal role along with Pankaj Tripathi, Nana Patekar, Easwari Rao and Samuthirakani.

State bottle necks should be discouraged because we all belong to the same country.

Rajanikanth can release this movie in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajastan and Maharashtra. Since he has insulted the Kannadigas he have no right to promote Tamil in Karnataka. Hope Pro Kannada Organizations will not allow to play this movie across Karnataka and it should be stopped in a hooked or crooked way. Rajanikanth is a Anti national as he justified the Police brutality and killings of protesters in Tuticorin recently.

So what is the difference between these pro-Kannada organisations and Karni Sena? Both do not know to respect the constitutional rights to citizens of this country.

Who is Kannada Rakshana Vedike to tell me that I should not watch Tamil movie? Are they any different from BD / VHP who forced their way into cattle traders life? Did people of Karnataka elect MLAs to Govern the state or KRV?

You must ask yourself a very simple question at this moment – Do you want India to be governed by the provisions of the Constitution? If the answer is YES, then neither KRV nor BD/VHP can assume the role of a quasi-State body and impose their will on rest of the public. Make no mistake, KRV and also BD/VHP have all the right in the world to protest peacefully against any policies / laws of the country; but they cannot physically force or coerce other people to toe their line.
